Road 13’s Seventy-Four K
Road 13, like most vineyards in BC, had to deal the elements in 2017. An extra rainy and cool spring was followed by one of the hottest summers in 40 years, which sparked some serious forest fires – we saw that again in 2018.
The smoke, they say, actually help the harvest and the plumes kept the sun and heat at bay, which increased the intensity of flavours in the grapes.
The Seventy-Four K is a blend of mostly Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Teroldego, and lands somewhere in between full and medium bodied. It’s intense in black fruit flavours, heavy on the cherry and cassis and has a nice spice to it. Definitely, a nice wine to bring to your next dinner party.
